February 16, 2012 -- The fourth annual mHealth Summit will take place at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in Washington, D.C., Dec. 3 to 5 under the direction of its new owner, Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS). HIMSS is also the association partner of ABM member MedTech Media.
The mHealth Summit was formerly owned by the Foundation for the National Institutes of Health (FNIH), and although it has transitioned the trade show to a new owner, FNIH will still remain actively involved in the event as an organizing partner. HIMSS president and CEO H. Stephen Lieber emphasized the importance of mobile technology in the healthcare industry. "In an increasingly mobile environment, the mHealth Summit helpes HIMSS fulfill our vision to lead healthcare transformation not only through the best use of health information and management technology in a fixed environment," Lieber said in a press release, "but now, as mobile health devices, sensors and apps are increasingly deployed and linked throughout the healthcare delivery system."
In an effort to ensure continuity, the former director of the mHealth Summit, Richard Scarfo has joined HIMSS as vice president of Vendor Events and will lead the HIMSS business unit responsible for the event and other initiatives.
