Reed Business International announced that they would be putting their entertainment brand, Variety, up for sale. Variety was started in 1905 and has been the premier source for entertainment news.

ABM member Access Intelligence announced Monday that they have acquired New York based company LeadsCon. It is the preeminent conference dedicated to increasing the effectiveness of those operating in the online lead generation industry.

The McGraw-Hill Companies named Robert S. Merritt as Vice President of Investor Relations. In this role, Mr. Merritt will be responsible for creating and executing global investor relations strategies and initiatives.

FTC releases final report on Consumer Privacy

The Federal Trade Commission this week released its final report on protecting consumer privacy, including a series of recommended best practices and amended proposals from the preliminary report released in December 2010 which ABM submitted extensive comments to. In the report, called “Protecting Consumer Privacy in an Era of Rapid Change: A Proposed Framework for Businesses and Policymakers,” the FTC recommends that Congress consider enacting general privacy legislation, data security and breach notification legislation, and data broker legislation. Where the b-to-b dollars are going (and metrics marketers want)

Bizo (an online business audience data provider) and BtoB magazine teamed up to conduct a survey of b-to-b marketing professionals in the United States and found that 77 percent of respondents said they’d be expanding their marketing mix this year with video and mobile. Are marketers spending more of their money on social media campaigns, paid search or email? Is there a stronger emphasis on video or mobile? More.

Survey: Web still a priority over tablets for b-to-b publishers

According to a new survey from the Software and Information Industry Association, 60 percent of publishers are going to focus on tablet, mobile publishing and web product development this year. About 42 percent of the 85 publishers surveyed by the SIIA named licensing and syndication as a key area of focus, while 19 percent cited video. More
