Bruce Mishkin named Director of Membership Development

NEW YORK, NY May 30, 2007– American Business Media (ABM) is pleased to announce the appointment of Bruce Mishkin as Director of Membership Development. Mishkin will be responsible for expanding the membership base of the Association, with the charge of acquiring new members from traditional business media companies. 

“It is exciting to have Bruce come on-board here at ABM,” commented Claudia Flowers, executive vice president. “His expertise and industry knowledge will facilitate retaining and building our current membership base with superior support.”

With more than 20 years of business-to-business and consumer magazine publishing experience, Mishkin served as associate publisher at Philadelphia-based Home Viewer Publications, where he directed sales efforts on Home Viewer Magazine. Mishkin also oversaw sales for Video Extra, which served members of the home video programming community. In 1987, Mishkin joined Video Business magazine. Beginning as marketing director, he later assumed the position of associate publisher, leading the magazine to record growth. He was also a member of the team that planned and executed Video Business’ conversion from monthly to weekly frequency.

With the experience gained from the publishing industry, Mishkin started the advertising agency, Itwerx, which specialized in serving the marketing and promotional needs of media companies. The agency’s clients included Crain Communications, Reed Business Information, Primedia, Food Network, HGTV, and Time Warner’s Warner Music division.

Since 2004, Mishkin served as a regional sales director for ReachLocal, a leading search engine marketing company serving the online advertising needs of small and mid-sized businesses across the country.
