Mission

To enhance the knowledge and best practices of audience development professionals at American Business Media member companies. The Audience Development Committee is committed to:

  • Fostering the highest ethical standards.
  • Acting as a conduit for information on evolving audience development trends.
  • Providing a forum to share information and to discuss industry concerns.
  • Fostering the next generation of audience development professionals.
  • Promote the Audience Development function as part of the B2B Media Company C-suite.
Projects:
Building on last year's sub-committee efforts to develop guidelinees for auditing digital editions, the committee developed a circulation guide for launching digital editions.  It is intended as a white paper to help ABM members be better prepared when they launch digital editions.

For the third straight year, the Circulation Career Award will be awarded to recognize the lifetime achievements and contributions of a business information audience development professional.

The committee updated the ongoing Paragraph 3-B Trend Data Analysis which identifies shifts in usage of audit ducumentation sources combining publication information from BPA and ABC statements with reports spanning 1995, 1995, and 2000-2005.  Detailed comparison reports which contrast categories between 2004 and 2005 are now available at www.americanbusinessmedia.com.

The committee developed an initiative to update the definition of the audience development professional in response to inquiries regarding the evolving definition and role of the audience development manager amidst the numerous changes in the business media industry.
