ContentABM Digital Media Council member Cimarron Buser, VP Sales & Mktg., Texterity is interested in feedback on the Safe Harbor issue:

Currently, any publisher doing email or having a "relationship" (data flows/ transfers) with a customer in the EU needs to set up a "Safe Harbor" and include this information in their privacy policy.

I think this would be a terrific value-added service to have ABM provide guidance on this issue to the association’s member organizations. This could be provided as part of an educational process as well in terms of identifying the issue, how it will potentially impact member companies and promote member company participation in this initiative.

Currently almost 1,100 US companies have signed on to take part in this initiative – from Zino Systems and RR Donnely to CSX and General Motors. To review an overview of the Safe Harbor issue, a complete list of participating companies as well as information on registering and participation requirements please go to:

http://www.export.gov/safeharbor/

Several organizations provide this service, including BBBOnline:

http://www.bbbonline.org/privacy/eu.asp

I would be interested to find out if other members of ABM are doing this, or are interested in taking part in this initiative? Should ABM be providing guidance in this area?
