ABM’s International Committee, chaired by Michael Whalen, senior director of global brand development for CMP Technology, is committed to exploring, identifying, evaluating and communicating international opportunities for business information companies.

ABM executive vice president Claudia Flowers works to expand the scope of the Association through a series of Country Leadership Tours and participation in international forums. In 2006, Flowers led a  group of American media leaders including Gary Fitzgerald, Meister Media; Glenn Hansen, BPA Worldwide; Charlie McCurdy, Canon Communications; and James Strachan, Global Sources on ABM’s inaugural China Leadership Tour to make contacts with leading Chinese government officials and potential media partners. Tour speakers included Helen Chen from Variety China, Zhang Fu Hai of GAPP (General Administration of Press & Publication Peoples Republic of China), Tom Gorman of FORTUNE China, and Liu Xueping of the Beijing Lingxi Internet Company, among others. Paul Woodward, president of BSG in Hong Kong, provided tips on partnering to bring trade shows and events to the Chinese market, while content distribution experts Charles Tang of Dragon Source and Mr. Yu of XPlus discussed the importance of digital applications in international endeavors.
