The William D. Littleford Awards for Corporate Community Service were named after and established by the chairman emeritus of BPI Communications, Inc. The award recognizes companies, organizations or individuals that are involved in active community service programs aimed at alleviating critical social problems. Littleford established this award for a number of purposes: to raise the visibility of the business media editorial product; to encourage increased coverage and recognition of community service success stories; and to motivate other organizations to apply such solutions in their own communities.

About William D. Littleford
William D. Littleford, chairman emeritus of BPI Communications Inc. (now part of Nielsen Business Media), spent his entire publishing career with BPI,
founded in 1894 by his grandfather in Cincinnati.
Through the course of his storied career, William Littleford was intent on helping those in need and worked to recognize, through media, those who made extraordinary efforts in their community. These awards celebrate the promotion of good deeds through business media.
In 1951, under William Littleford’s leadership, BPI joined what is now American Business Media. He served as chairman of the association from 1960 to 1961 and was active in the development and continued success of ABM initiatives like the Business Press Educational Foundation. His in-depth involvement with the Community Action Network has helped to establish industry-wide recognition for public service.
William Littleford’s tireless efforts to bring community service to the forefront and raise the awareness of business media has resulted in the William D. Littleford Awards
for Corporate Community Service. Now in its eleventh year, the awards recognize the best in community service and the media showcases that service.
