IDG's Scott Berinato Named 2005 McAllister Editorial Fellow

Scott Berinato, senior editor for CIO and CSO magazines within IDG's CXO Media division, will return to his alma mater, Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism, as the 11th recipient of the McAllister Editorial Fellowship. Through the fellowship, one successful business media editor is chosen each year to act as a teacher and advisor for approximately one week on the Medill Magazine Project. Berinato, who earned his Master's of Science in journalism from Medill in 1996, is the first graduate of Northwestern's prestigious journalism school to receive the McAllister Fellowship.

The fellowship is named in honor of Donald McAllister Sr., a former ABM chairman and Geyer-McAllister chairman before his death in 1993. (The family-owned publishing firm was acquired by Reed Business Information in 1998.) Donald McAllister Jr. presented Berinato with a crystal bowl and honorarium at this year's Jesse H. Neal Awards luncheon.

Berinato has been recognized for his reporting in the four Jesse H. Neal Awards he has won in the Best Single Article category, including the 2004 Grand Neal Award for his CIO article, “All Systems Down.” This year, Berinato is again a Neal Award winner.
