BUSINESS-TO-BUSINESS TRADE SHOW REVENUES
SHOW SLIGHT DECLINE IN FIRST THREE QUARTERS OF 2008

NEW YORK, December 10, 2008 - Impacted by the current economic conditions, b-to-b trade shows are down 3.7% compared to a year ago, after the first three quarters of 2008. This is the first trade show revenue decline in seven years; revenue for trade shows grew at a CAGR of 3.1% from 2000-2007. B-to-b magazine revenue declined 5.9% in the first three quarters of 2008, generating a combined trade show and magazine decline of 4.8%.

While b-to-b magazine revenues are down, five of the 21 BIN categories are showing growth.  'Agriculture,' 'Architecture, Design, & Lighting,' 'Professional Services' and 'Travel, Business Conventions & Meetings' are among these categories.

"Considering the current economic climate, business-to-business media appears to be holding up well," stated Gordon T. Hughes II, ABM's president/CEO. "For the long term, we believe that b-to-b media will continue to serve the needs of the marketing community with superior products and services, and will grow accordingly."

In January 2005, American Business Media augmented its reporting model for magazine advertising sales in industry markets, as relayed through BIN, by examining 21 markets comprised of all business-to-business books tracked by IMS/The Auditor, and PERQ/HCI for healthcare figures. The data, by category, is available on the American Business Media Web site or by clicking here.
