PRESS RELEASE
AD REVENUE FOR BUSINESS PUBLICATIONS SHOWS HEALTHY GROWTH IN JULY
July ad revenue up 4.54% over same period 2005; year-to-date revenue increases by 1.43%
NEW YORK, October 19, 2006— Advertising revenue for business publications shows positive growth, with the July 2006 Business Information Network (BIN) report showing an increase of 1.43% in revenue for the year-to-date. This upward trend is reflective of the 4.54% ad revenue increase for the month of July over same period 2005. The Architecture, Design & Lighting; Resources, Environment & Utilities; and Aviation, Aerospace & Military categories contributed heavily to this growth, with an impressive 8.14%, 8.81%, and 9.8% increase in year-to-date revenue, respectively. Ad pages continue to show modest growth, with a 1.04% increase, year-to-date, and a 2.21% growth for July over same period 2005.
“This upswing in ad revenue is a welcome harbinger for the second half of the year.” said Gordon T. Hughes II, president and CEO of American Business Media. “This growth, coupled with the strength of face-to-face this year already, is an exciting indicator that as an industry we are holding steady and strong.”
In January 2005, American Business Media augmented its reporting model for magazine advertising sales in industry markets, as relayed through BIN, by examining 21 markets comprised of all business-to-business books tracked by IMS/The Auditor, and PERQ/HCI for healthcare figures.
