BUSINESS PUBLICATIONS SHOW FIRST QUARTER GROWTH
Revamped BIN approach charts 2.11% revenue increase over first quarter 2004
NEW YORK, May 23, 2005—The Business Information Network (BIN) report for the first quarter of 2005 shows continued moderate revenue growth for business-to-business publications by posting a 2.11 percent increase over the first quarter of 2004. In all, 15 of the 22 industries showed revenue exceeding that of the same period last year. Strong performers in first quarter revenue include Banking, Financial, Insurance (up 9.67%); Manufacturing, Processing (up 9.46%); and Professional Services (up 8.61%).
“This increase in revenue posting for the first quarter is another sign that the business-to-business market continues to move forward,” said Gordon T. Hughes, II, president and CEO of American Business Media.
In January 2005, American Business Media augmented its reporting model for magazine advertising sales in industry markets, as relayed through BIN, by examining 22 markets comprised of all business-to-business books tracked by IMS/The Auditor, and PERQ/HCI for healthcare figures. The new model boosts the database from 800 business-to-business publications to more than 1,600 publications.
Founded in 1906, American Business Media is the industry association for b-to-b information providers. Its 250-plus member companies reach an audience of more than 90 million professionals and represent nearly 5000 print and online titles.
