AMERICAN BUSINESS MEDIA PROMOTES FLOWERS TO SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT
Claudia Flowers is now senior vice president of business development
NEW YORK, July 5, 2005—American Business Media has promoted Claudia Flowers to the position of Senior Vice President of Business Development, effective immediately. Ms. Flowers focuses on retaining and cultivating new members, and expanding the scope of the Association.
Ms. Flowers, who joined ABM in September, 2004, is a veteran of the business media industry, having held executive positions at The Thomson Corporation and The McGraw-Hill Companies. Most recently, she was chief financial officer for the Medical Research division of Wolters Kluwer Health, a global business catering to medical professionals.
“Claudia has done an excellent job of reaching out to our members, and those who would benefit from membership in the association,” said Gordon Hughes, ABM’s president & CEO. “She has been very instrumental in the expansion of the number of ABM members to an all-time high.”
Before joining Wolters Kluwer, Ms. Flowers was vp and associate managing director for The Jordan, Edmiston Group, Inc., where she participated in numerous M&A deals and oversaw the investment bank’s advertising and marketing efforts. Prior to that, she was vp-finance for The Thomson Corporation.
Ms. Flowers spent the earlier part of her career at The McGraw-Hill Companies, where she rose to vp-operations for the Information Technology & Communications Group. Among her responsibilities were developing and directing the group’s strategic plan and annual budget, developing circulation strategy, maximizing manufacturing and distribution resources, and leading new title launches.
A former chairman of ABM’s Strategic Finance and Operations Committee and member of the Business Press Educational Foundation and Marketing Committees, Ms. Flowers holds a B.A. degree from Fordham University. She attended the Pace University Publishing Graduate Program and completed the negotiation course at New York University.
