Mission

The Production/Manufacturing Technology Committee’s mission is to:

• create a forum for American Business Media members to share information, experiences and best practices as it relates to production or manufacturing;
• identify issues related to production and manufacturing technology specific to the needs of American Business Media members.

Projects:
The committee held an enthusiastic, standing-room only meeting regarding new product implementation this past March.  Vendors, including Banta, Fry, Blanchard and Kodak, presented a variety of technological products tailored to the evolving publishing industry before offering committee members the opportunity to work one-on-one sampling the programs.

The committee hosted a unique day touring the co-mailing facilities of both Quebecor World and R.R. Donnelley at the Reed Business offices in Oakbrook, Illinois.  The day focused on learning how to offset the 2006 postal increase and how short-run magazines benefit from co-mailing, while allowing committee members to see actual jobs running on co-mailing equipment.
