Enter Chinatown and become immersed in the largest Chinese community outside of the Orient. As you walk, experienced guides lead you through secret back alleys explaining what to look for when buying cackling hens or fresh fish at the markets. See traditional fortune cookies being made at a Chinese fortune cookie factory, visit a Buddhist or Taoist temple or watch locals purchase ancient medicinal herbs from traditional pharmacists. Elegant pagoda-topped buildings, street signs in Chinese, dragon entwined lampposts and dialects ranging in the hundreds are constant reminders that you are in a thriving and historic ethnic neighborhood.

Included in the tour is a Dim Sum lunch. (Dim Sum are small, delicious, steamed or fried tidbits filled with barbecued pork, shrimp, taro root and other Cantonese favorites.) The tour ends in Chinatown, allowing you to continue your exploration.

You are only eligible for this tour if your register under the Spouse/Companion rate.

Note: This is a walking tour that involves considerable activity and some negotiation of steep hills and steps. Dress for the weather (it is usually 50-60 degrees during this time of year) and wear comfortable shoes.
